The NFL University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona,  opening for the 2006 National Football eague season and home to the Arizona Cardinals, will be host to the 2008 Super Bowl XLII on February 3, 2008. It will also be the annual site of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and will host the first-ever BCS National Championship Game in January of 2007. The Stadium is now completed and open for business.

The Stadium pulls out all the stops to provide comfort for the fans providing all of the 63,000 permanent seats with backs, arm rests, and cup holders. The roof has two large retractable panels that uncover the entire playing field while providing maximum shading for fans, taking advantage of Arizona's premium weather. The 152,000 square-foot concrete stadium floor has a utility grid embedded in the floor and can host various events like trade and consumer shows, conventions, concerts, motor sports and rodeos. The entire south end zone will be developed as the "Budweiser Red Zone" and will provide a place for fans to get a beer, watch the game, and occasionally take in some live entertainment. The Red Zone will be about 235 feet long by 50 feet wide.

The natural grass playing surface is contained in a retractable, 12-million pound tray that is 234 feet wide by 400 feet long, the first of its kind in North America. This one-of-a-kind feature saves $50 million in costs since it is more economical to move the field than having the entire roof retract to allow the necessary sunshine to reach the grass.

The University of Phoenix Stadium is located in Glendale, Arizona, near the Coyotes Arena located between the Loop 101 and 91st Avenue.   Exit from the 101 on Glendale Avenue and travel approximately 1 mile east. The complex is located just south of Glendale Avenue between 91st and 99th Avenues.
